Three Harambee Stars players have come to the rescue of their teammate Philemon Otieno who is hospitalised.
Tottenham's and national team captain Victor Wanyama, Jesse Were and Japan based striker Michael Olunga joined hands to raise money needed by Otieno to undergo surgery after being injured on August 4 while on international duty.
The act of kindness comes after Federation of Kenyan Football (FKF) failed to honor a promise to have him treated in France.
His team, Gor Mania, also said they were not in a position to pay his medical bill.
Thanks to the three, Philemon Otieno underwent a successful surgery last week at the Kenyatta National Hospital.
“Otieno had no otherwise but to reach out to his fellow national team players to help raise money for his treatment. This, to me, is unfair.
"FKF should have footed the bills,” said Gor Mahia Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Lordvick Aduda as reported by Citizen.
Despite the failure by FKF to treat Otieno, God Mahia through their CEO have maintained tgat they will still allow their players to participate in international matches to avoid FIFA sanctions.
“I wrote to FKF on September 4 to seek their opinion on the treatment of the player but to date they have not responded. They totally ignored my letter,” fumed Aduda.
