Elgeyo Marakwet County Senator Kipchumba Murkomen has now sent a strong message to Kibra people after Macdonald Mariga was cleared to contest for the Kibra parliamentary seat in the by-election slated for November 7, 2019.
Murkomen who addressed the media after Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) Dispute Resolution Tribunal cleared Mariga, said that justice has been done.
“On behalf of my colleagues and here our leaders, we just want to say justice has been done for our brother Mariga,” said Murkomen.
He then went ahead to argue Kibra residents to choose a candidate of their choice.
He noted that as a party, they are only standing with Mariga to support him in the upcoming elections.
"We believe that this is not our politics as politicians but for the people of Kibra. The victory that will be found will be for Kibra people. The representative that will be chosen, will be their leader. As a party, we are only giving Mariga support but we are not him and we are not the ones asking for the votes. (Nasisi tunaamini ya kwamba siasa ii sio yetu sisi wanasiasa, ni ya watu wa Kibra. Na ushindi utakaopatikana utakua ni wa watu wa Kibra. Na mtumishi ambaye watamchangua, watachagua kiongozi wao. Sisi tu kama chama ni kupatia support Mariga lakini sisi sio yeye na sisi sio dio tunaomba kura)," he added.
Murkomen is among Jubilee leaders who are supporting Mariga candidature in Kibra by-elections.
Mariga's name will now be included in the list of those who had earlier been cleared by IEBC.
