The trial of the mysterious death of lawyer Willie Kimani has taken a different twist after one of the five suspect rejected an advocate.
The suspect, Peter Ngugi Kamau pleaded with trial judge Jessie Lesiit to assist him get another advocate to represent him because he was not getting along well with lawyer Neilias Kinyori.
The suspect now wants to be represented by a male advocate as seeks for what he terms as justice following the murder case.
The suspect reportedly colluded with the others to mastermind the murder of Kimani, boda boda rider Josephat Mwenda and taxi Joseph Muiruri.
Ms Kinyori, however told the court that she had done her best in representing the client.
She also said that the demands of the suspect are not within the law of the country, adding that he is free to seek services from another lawyer as per his wish pending the hearing of the murder case.
“I have given my best and represented my client well but if he wishes to be represented by another lawyer, it is his right,” she said, as quoted by Daily Nation.
During the court session, the trial Judge was also informed that lawyer Cliff Ombeta is unwell.
Ombeta has been representing three police officers accused of having links to the murder of the lawyer. The case was adjourned after Ombeta’s failure to appear in court. The case is expected to be mentioned on July 24
