This comes at a time when the rains continue to wreak havoc in most parts of the country.

Witnesses said that the two drowned while trying to cross River Oletukat at 4 pm, and were part of a group of four, two of whom were rescued.

"Currently the locals are looking for the bodies which were carried downstream,” said Alex Sankok, a local who witnessed the incident.

Narok Sub-County Commander Joseph Kisombe confirmed the incident saying that efforts to recover the bodies of the two have been troubled by the ongoing heavy downpour.

He added that the rescue mission will proceed on Wednesday.

"We received the report at around 3 pm and due to the raging floods, it’s difficult for our officers to trace anything. Retrieval efforts will proceed tomorrow,” he said.

The downpour also left behind a trail of destruction, as infrastructure put up at a cost of Sh200 million to counter such failed to do much.

Many such cases have been reported across the nation, with the rains destroying bridges and carrying people and livestock away, resulting in massive losses.
