Machakos Governor Dr Alfred Mutua has launched a scathing attack at Deputy President William Ruto moments after former Machakos Senator Johnson Muthama declared his support for him (Ruto).
In a statement seen by the Standard on Wednesday, Mutua wondered how the Wiper politician decided to support the second in command yet he considers him as the biggest opponent of the Building Bridges Initiative (BBI).
The Maendeleo Chap Chap party leader also said that Ruto has been one of the critics of the handshake between President Uhuru Kenyatta and ODM leader Raila Amolo Odinga.
“It is fresh in the minds of Kenyans that DP William Ruto and his accomplices are the biggest opponents of handshake and BBI. Wiper’s teaming up with them is clearly a scheme to frustrate President Uhuru Kenyatta in his bid to unite and need to develop Kenya under his Big Four Agenda,” Mutua noted the statement as quoted by Standard.
Muthama, a key figure in Wiper party, had been quoted saying that the Kamba nation will no longer support Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) leader Raila Amolo Odinga for the Presidency.
Speaking during an interview with a local station, the former Senator said that the Kamba community will find someone who will ensure they benefit from the national cake and not Raila.
“I will soon convene a meeting of all elected leaders including MPs and MCAs as well as opinion leaders so that we dialogue over this matter. Our (Kamba’s) political chapter with ODM leader Raila Odinga is closed. We will negotiate with Ruto, Musalia (Musalia) and Moses (Wetangula),” said Muthama, as quoted by Standard.
He also said that Ruto has never been found guilty of graft claims and that President Uhuru Kenyatta would have seen him kicked out of office had he looted the public as alleged.
Muthama was one of the vocal leaders during the 2017 Presidential campaigns in NASA.
