Kirinyaga Governor Anne Mumbi Waiguru is set to exchange marriage vows with lawyer Kamotho Waiganjo today in a colourful traditional wedding.
More than 4000 people from different walks of life are expected to attend the event. After the event, Kamotho and Waiguru will officially be declared husband and wife as per the Kikuyu cultural practices.
The Kirinyaga Governor could not hide her joy as she expects the day to be a dream come true.
The county boss now preferred to be called Mumbi because she is on the verge of becoming someone’s wife.
“It is expected in the Kikuyu culture to observe the rights of passage, of which marriage makes a part. It is also to honour our parents and the extensive Mt Kenya community,” says Anne.
The first term governor has also said that she is ready for a new life after living as a single woman for some time. She said that she has heard a lot as far as her private life is concerned but she decided to keep quiet over the same because she knew what she wanted at the end of the day.
