Emerging details have revealed the dark life of Baktash Akasha, one of the two Akasha brothers facing charges in the United States after pleading guilty to drug dealing charges.
The brothers were arrested in their Mombasa home and taken to the US where they have since pleaded guilty to the charges and are awaiting their sentencing.
Documents filed by US attorney Geoffrey Berman before US District Court Judge Victor Morrerro on Friday revealed the violent lives that the brothers led.
Baktash, specifically, not only unleashed attacks on his rivals in the drug world but also on his wife and son. He is accused of killing his wife and scalding his son after tying him to a tree.
“Baktash’s violent episodes were not limited to his attacks on other drug traffickers. He was regularly violent towards his family as well,” reads the document, as reported by the Standard.
According to a testimony by an Indian drug lord and one of their associates Vijaygiri Goswami, he witnessed the man beating his boy senseless before burning him with a hot rod.
"The son was hospitalised for his injuries but survived,” he said, adding that Baktash's current wife Najma confided in him that he killed his first wife.
“Goswami was told by both Ibrahim and Baktash’s current wife that Baktash killed his former wife and Goswami witnessed a dispute during which Ibrahim confronted Baktash about this murder. He did not respond,” read the report.
