Former Kiambu Governor William Kabogo has made an appeal to be given the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) chairman position.
Speaking on Wednesday on the Point Blank show on the Kenya Television Network (KTN), Mr Kabogo said that he would do the job without asking for pay.
"Give me this job pro bono, no pay," he said.
The former county boss decried the prevalence of corruption in the country, saying more needed to be done to deal with the scourge.
Kabogo said that corruption was undermining the government's development agenda.
His words come in the backdrop of efforts directed at holding high profile individuals to account over corruption.
Among those facing corruption charges pressed by the EACC are Kiambu Governor Ferdinand Waititu and his Samburu counterpart Moses Lenolkulal.
The two county bosses have been barred by courts listening to their cases from going to their offices until the cases are done with.
Former Treasury Cabinet Secretary Henry Rotich is also grappling with an array of graft charges that have forced him to step aside.
In a bid to rein in graft, President Uhuru Kenyatta cancelled the Kimwarer dam project over lack of financial and technical viability.
Kabogo appeared to express disappointment with the way the war on corruption is being waged, saying the war would be more meaningful if it leads to successful convictions.
