Kapseret MP Oscar Sudi has raised an accusing finger against the Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA) over tax evasion claims facing Keroche Breweries bosses Joseph Karanja and Tabitha Karanja as well as billionaire Humphery Kariuki.
In a post on his Facebook page, Sudi termed claims that the 'power couple' evaded to pay the tax that amounts to over Sh14 billion as unrealistic.
He also called for the audit of the Kenya Breweries shareholders.
"First, the figures looks imaginary, malicious and unrealistic. Here is the reason; I want to challenge Kenyans to find out who is the main shareholder with over 50% shares in Kenya Breweries over the last one year?" read part of Sudi's Facebook post.
He also claimed that the ongoing crackdown against tax evaders that has also seen billionaire Humphery Kaiuki arrested and charged over Sh41 billion tax was not objective.
"There is no objectivity in the crackdown, this is just trade wars and someone wants to enjoy business monopoly in this country," Sudi noted.
Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) Nordin Haji on Wednesday ordered for the arrest of the Keroche Breweries directors.
The DPP said he had sufficient evidence to charge them over tax evasion amounting to Sh14 billion.
Tabitha Karanja, however, rubbished the claims terming them baseless and plotted by their competitors.
"Am shocked by the new allegations levelled against me, my husband and Keroche Breweries and this is pure malice," she was quoted by the Standard.
