All education stakeholders will not be allowed to ask for leave until the completion of Kenya Certificate of Primary Education (KCPE) and Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) examinations, government has announced.
Speaking at the Kenya School of Government in Nairobi on Monday, Interior Cabinet Secretary Dr Fred Matiang’i said that the directive will affected different employees of the government include police and teachers.
He reiterated that the move has been reached in a bid to curb cases of cheating and other forms of malpractices that are likely to arise during this period.
“We are not going to allow any of our security people, especially the senior ones, to take leave because you know this time of the year is when we all have to focus on the welfare of our children,” he said, as quoted by Citizen Digital.
The CS also said that they will not allow security officers to leave the examination room during and after the examinations until all answer sheets are collected.
Teachers Service Commission (TSC) boss Nancy Macharia said that the teachers will be expected to take part in the marking of the examinations.
He said that cases of examination malpractice will only be a thing of the past if the teachers and police work together with other stakeholders during this period.
