Amani National Congress (ANC) secretary-general Barack Muluka has compared Deputy President Dr William Ruto to an antelope that dances itself lame before the real dance begins.
The antelope analogy was drawn from a book written by the late Nigerian authour Chinua Achebe.
Muluka's remark on Wednesday night was in response to KTN's 'Point Blank' host Tony Gachoka who wanted to know whether ANC party leader Musalia Mudavadi was fit to fend off DP Ruto's influence in Western Kenya.
"You know Chinua Achebe has talked about the antelope that danced itself lame before," the ANC he said in a video shared on YouTub. (27:37-27:49)
The outspoken political analyst strongly rejected suggestions that the DP was growing stronger in Western Kenya at the expense of Mudavadi.
He held the view that the Western region was behind the ANC party leader to the last man and that the region's voters would look up to him for direction.
This comes in the wake of a series of rallies by the DP in various parts of Western Kenya in a bid to grow his appeal ahead of 2022.
Western has long been in the grip of ODM leader Raila Odinga.
The region has struggled with uniting its leaders who pull in different directions during general elections.
Mudavadi is himself struggling to rally Luhya leaders behind his presidential aspirations.
