President Uhuru Kenyatta has reiterated that Jubilee party remains steady despite his concerted effort to reach the opposition for unity.
For months now, Jubilee party has struggled to contain rebellion from within, with the party now having two factions that have threatened unity.
The Kieleweke faction supports President Uhuru Kenyatta while the Tanga Tanga brigade has been lobbying for deputy president William Ruto.
But at the burial of Daniel Ole Muyaa, President Uhuru Kenyatta on Saturday seemed concerned about the infighting which have threatened to tear the party.
"I told him that I want to unite Kenyans. I know that I am a child of Jubilee and I love my party I am proud of it. But I also said that I also love Kenya and the people of Kenya.
"There is no party in this country that does not love peace and prosperity. No single person can claim that he or she can solve Kenya's problems alone," he said.
DP Ruto's brigade has often accused Raila Odinga of the ongoing crisis within Jubilee, arguing that he is using the handshake with Uhuru to frustrate Ruto.
The DP has often gone ballistic against Mr Odinga, who is said to be keen in the race to succeed President Uhuru Kenyatta in 2022 polls.
“There is a difference between the Jubilee you used to know and the current one. In Jubilee, we were used to the language of development where we talk about roads and other projects,” he said.
He added: “Now, there are perennial agitators on the issues of the Constitution who have been pushing for a referendum. You know the people who are always championing for a referendum. That is why some leaders in Jubilee are confused because we are not used to that language.”
