Former Kakamega Senator Bonny Khalwale doubled down on Saturday on his opposition to some proposals made during the Building Bridges Initiative (BBI) meetings that have been held across the country.
In a tweet on Saturday, the outspoken Western Kenya politician said that he had held two rallies where he pushed the agenda of rejecting the creation of regional governments and an executive prime minister.
"Earlier today I held two rallies at Madibini in Idakho South and Elukho in Butsotso. Agenda ~No to BBI Executive PM~No to BBI Regional Governments ~Bullfighting," Khalwale revealed in his tweet.
The question of expanding the executive and introducing a third tier of government as proposed by some high profile politicians is proving to be a vexed one as it is divisive.
Critics of the proposals say that they are being pushed by egocentric politicians who do not have the interest of the ordinary Kenyans at heart.
An executive Prime Minister would fundamentally alter the governance structure as Kenyans have known it for quite some time.
A PM under a parliamentary system would ascend to power based on how many seats the political party he leads garners in parliamentary elections.
Such a PM would not be beholden to the president but to the Members of Parliament.
