President Uhuru Kenyatta could not resist the urge to weigh in on the African Cup of Nations (AFCON) match between Kenya and Tanzania when he arrived in Chato on Friday.
The head of state teased Tanzanians with a reminder of Harambee Stars victory over Tanzania's Taifa Stars in a five-goal thriller at the June, 30 Stadium.
"The other day we fought in Cairo. Everybody had their own team. Harambee Stars and Taifa Stars faced each other... We competed and this time around, Kenya beat Tanzania. (Juzi tumechapana kule Cairo. Kila mtu na timu yake. Harambee Stars na Taifa Stars ndio hao huko.Tulishindana, safari hii Kenya ikagonga Taifa ), " President Uhuru Kenyatta teased.
He consoled the Tanzanians, saying they lost to the Lions of Teranga of Senegal by a better 2-0 margin unlike Kenya who lost 3-0
Uhuru emphasised on the need for meticulous preparations so that in future, the two countries can make it to the finals and even face each other.
Both Taifa Stars and Harambee Stars were bundled out of AFCON at the group stage with Tanzania losing all its matches and Kenya losing two and winning one.
Uhuru is in Tanzania for a personal visit on the invitation of President Dr John Pombe Magufuli.
