Nairobi-based senior advocate Stephen Mogaka has questioned the motive of a section of leaders who have recently come out publicly opposing the yet to be released Building Bridges Initiative (BBI) report.

Mogaka wondered how the leaders got to know what was contained in the report (BBI) when the task force formed by President Uhuru Kenyatta and Raila Odinga, his political foe, was yet to hand over their findings to the duo.

He said President Uhuru Kenyatta and Raila Odinga after the famous handshake agreed to put their political differences and forged a way through which Kenya could be healed from tribalism, corruption and nepotism.

"They jointly formed a task force which went round the country and collected views from citizens on how they could want the country affairs managed. That has been done, the committee is doing its final touches on the report and we are expecting it to be handed to the president to make it public. Am shocked when some quarters of leaders have started misleading Kenyans to oppose the report even when it’s not out, they are not being realistic,” said Mogaka.

The advocate asked the leaders to hold their horses until the report is made public so it can be amended wherever it may fall short of expectations.

“We are all waiting for the report as citizens and leaders and I urge them (opposing team) to stay cool until the report is made public to know what we are debating on," he noted.

Mogaka was speaking on Sunday at a burial ceremony of Joshua Basweti, a former councillor, in Kebirigo, Bonyamatuta ward.
