Police in Thika, Kiambu county, have arrested a middle-aged woman who eloped with her kids from their home in Kariobangi two months ago.
Apparently the sceptical woman identified as Ruth Wairimu had joined a 'heresy' religion that didn't allow kids to go to school.
According to her husband Nahashon Mwangi, his wife disappeared with the three kids, two boys and a girl, immediately after schools closed for the August holiday.
Mwangi said that the wife had told him that according to her new religion she was not supposed to stay at her matrimonial home neither should her kids go to school.
After disappearing with the children, the woman switched off her phone thus making it hard for the husband to trace her.
However, after weeks of searching Mwangi learned that his family was living in Thika where he sought the help of the area chief Simon Kamau and went to take his kids.
Sadly he found the kids living in a dilapidated environment, a room without furniture.
The children were taken to Macheo children's home where they will stay until the court rules otherwise.
Their mother will now be charged with denying her kids the right to education contrary to the Kenyan law.
