Renowned socio-political commentator and University of Nairobi don Professor Herman Manyora has weighed in on the reported divisions in the Cabinet.
Speaking exclusively to Media Max-owned K24 Television, Prof Manyora said that the Cabinet was in a state of dysfunction, feeding the feeling among Kenyans that there is a vacuum in the country.
"There's a feeling of some vacuum in the country," said Manyora.
"The government is not being felt. You begin with the Cabinet and is a dysfunctional Cabinet. The divisions have gone beyond what is normal," he added.
The UON don attributed the divisions to the composition of the Cabinet, saying that it was composed of President Uhuru Kenyatta's and Deputy President Dr William Ruto's loyalists.
His words come in the wake of the indictment of Finance Cabinet Secretary Henry Rotich and Permanent Secretaries Kamau Thuge and Susan Koech over the Arror and Kimwarer dams scandal.
They also come amid speculation on what President Uhuru's move will be following the high profile indictments of officials in a ministry that is of critical significance.
CS Rotich and his co-accused pleaded not guilty on Tuesday and were released on bail with tough conditions including not going to their offices which the magistrate described as crime scenes.
