The former MP died after a long illness three weeks ago and he will be laid to rest on Friday in a funeral that will see many politicians attending.

His death came amid rivalry between Ruto and Matiang'i, which has seen leaders throw barbs against one another in the last three months.

Tanga Tanga brigade led by Kitutu Masaba MP Shadrack Mose said last week that it's their wish the funeral does not turn political, arguing that respect is paramount.

"I don't see why we should politicise funerals. I don't think we shall escalate it to Tanga Tanga and Kieleweke. We should give him a descent burial," he said.

Nyaribari Masaba MP Ezekiel Mochogu is a close ally of DP Ruto. One of his predecessors Sam Ongeri, is also a proponent of handshake.

A source privy to the plans says that politicians who may intend to escalate politics will be kicked out for the honour of the deceased former minister.

"We will not allow it to go that way. The funeral should strictly focus on condoling the family. Those who will not toe to the line, will be kicked out."

In 2016, funeral for the former North Mugirango MP Geoffrey Masanya turned chaotic when then sitting MP Charles Geni disappeared with Public Address system.
