Government analyst Joseph Kimani told the court on Tuesday that DNA on the white straps that were used to tie the late Monica Kimani does not match with that of Joseph Irungu alias Jowie, a prime suspect in the murder case.
Kimani's testimony when he appeared before Justice James Wakiaga, as reported by the Star, comes just days after it was revealed that a DNA test conducted on the blood that was found on Jowie's khaki shorts, indicated that he may have interacted with the deceased before she was killed.
During a previous appearance in court, the government analyst had informed the court that the results of the DNA test had also revealed the presence of an unknown man.
“The DNA from the strapping in Monica’s house was of a mixed profile, the major contributor matching the profile generated from the blood sample labelled Monica with a random probability of match and a minor contributor is an unknown male profile,” Kimani told the court as quoted by the Star.
A DNA test was conducted on a total of 73 items that were collected from Monica Kimani's and Jaque Maribe's apartments.
The late businesswoman was found dead at her apartment at Lamuria Gardens in Kilimani.
She is believed to have been killed on September 19, 2018.
