Elgeyo Marakwet Senator Kipchumba Murkomen has once again poured cold water on the Building Bridges Initiative (BBI), terming it a falsehood.
The initiative was founded by President Uhuru Kenyatta and ODM leader Raila Odinga after their March 2018 truce, which later gave birth to the BBI taskforce.
But the Senator on Sunday insinuated that Raila has abducted it and is now using it to advance his own agenda, saying that it nolomger harbours its initial intention of bettering Kenya.
On the other hand, he cleared Uhuru of any wrongdoing, but claimed that the 14-member taskforce has not also been genuine in its concluded national view collection trips.
According to the Senator, the taskforce was going to choreographed meetings allegedly organized by county commissioners, purporting into be meeting Kenyans.
"The President is an honest person and be cannot lie to us. BBI is not about the people of Kenya. They have been going to choreographed meetings organised by county commissioners," he said on K24 on Sunday night.
He claimed that while Uhuru intends to use the BBI to unite Kenyans, Raila has his own separate intentions which he seeks to achieve through it.
"The handshake of Uhuru Kenyatta is not the handshake of Raila Odinga," he added.
Raila has been in trouble with politicians allied to Deputy President William Ruto, Murkomen included, who have accused him of using the BBI to better his chances for future polls.
However, Uhuru has repeatedly declared that he has non intentions of breaking his oaxt with the former Prime Minister despite the complains from his deputy's camp.
