Area assistant chief Benjamin Ayuma who led Nyumba Kumi members in the crackdown said he will not allow illegal illicit brew business to take place in this area.

“We have arrested 4 people with over 200 liters of chang’aa. Selling of illicit brew in the area is on the rise but my office will not tolerate such businesses to be carried out,” he said.

Ayuma accused police officers from Igonga administration police post for collecting bribes from locals for them to do the illegal businesses.

“One of the suspects disclosed to us that police officers have been collecting bribes from her so that she can continue with business. That won’t be allowed in the entire Bomariba location,” he said.

He said he will consult area Chief Triposa Orina to push for the transfer of police officers colluding with illicit brew dealers.
