Overloading your face with foundation in an attempt to achieve an even complexion is one of the worst mistakes you can make. (Photo/Pinterest)You wear foundation because you want to skin to look flawless – yet too many of us fall prey to one of these 6 common foundation mistakes that leave us with a less than perfect complexion.
Here are the mistakes you should avoid to ensure your makeup is on point.
Caking your face
Overloading your face with foundation in an attempt to achieve an even complexion is one of the worst mistakes you can make. Rather than looking perfect, your skin will look loaded with layers of foundation that’s shouting out loud for attention. You will end up caking your face and nothing else.
You’re matching it too perfectly
Think the perfect match is the one that’s exactly your skin tone? It may not be! If you’re someone who finds that foundation makes you look ashy, it’s likely because the shade is actually too close to your skin tone and or too pink. Instead, look for a shade warmer (think more golden) and a hair darker than your natural skin tone for a more flawless finish.
Applying foundation on dry skin
If you apply foundation on a dry and flaky face, your dryness will be highlighted. So as part of skin care regime, make sure you exfoliate well and slather good amount of moisturiser on your face to even out your complexion before applying a foundation.
Not using the foundation on your neck
If you’re applying the foundation on your entire face then make sure you are also using it on your neck. If you don’t do this, anyone can make out the difference because your neck is anyway lighter than face colour. To achieve a uniform look, apply first on face going down to your jawline and then the neck.
