1. Eye cataracts

If you watch too much television or if you sit close to your television, you are likely to develop eye cataracts. This might affect your vision. It will therefore force you to put on eye glasses. To avoid developing eye cataracts, you are advised to cut on the time you spend watching the television or when you are watching, you make sure you stay as far from the television as possible.

2. Obesity

When you spend most of your time just watching television, you are likely to become obese. According to www.healthsite.com, sitting for a long time causes the body’s metabolic rate to slow down thus more fats are stored. This eventually will lead to the person becoming obese. Watching too much television makes it easier for a person to overeat.

3. Heart disease

An obese person is more likely to suffer from cardiovascular disease than a person who is not obese. Watching television is basically an inactivity. It makes a person lazy as the fats are stored in his or her body, the blood vessels are narrowed, leading to inefficient flow of blood.

4. Risk of ADD (Attention deficit disorder) 

This is common among children who spend long hours watching television. These children will have more trouble concentrating. A child who is watching a television will not respond promptly to instructions as compared to a child who is not watching a television. Television is also known to eat into a child’s time for doing his or her homework and this may eventually lead to poor performance in school.
