Research has revealed that women like pets compared to men.

It is common to see ladies taking a walk alongside their favorite pets.

What many don’t know is that these pets could easily transmit deadly infections to human beings if not well taken care of.

Here are deadly infections pets can cause to human beings.

1. Ringworm 

It is a contagious fungal infection that survives for months without being noticed. 

The infection is associated with pets and comes in form of skin lesions and red, circular patches with red marks, it affects the scalp and could lead to hair loss.

To avoid these deadly infection ones is required to ensure that his or her pet is treated and clean at all times.

2. Roundworm 

It is the most common internal parasite.

 It is mostly found in cats.

The worms resemble spaghetti and are up to 4 inches long.

It is transmitted through contaminated food shared between human beings and infected pets.

It results in diarrhea, vomiting, constipation and bloody stool. 

It's symptom include cough, shortness of breath and abdominal pain.

3. Giardia

 It is more common in dogs.

It is transmitted through water shared between humankind and infected pet.

The infection leads to severe diarrhea.

4. Rabies 

It is a fatal infection that is associated with pets and most dogs. 

It occurs when one is bitten by an infected pet and symptoms include behavioral changes, fever, hypersensitivity to touch, foaming at the mouth, staggering, loss of appetite and sudden death.

Health experts recommend for immediate medical attention if one suspects he or she has been exposed to the disease.

Pet owners should also ensure that they are vaccinated against rabies and other infections.

While keeping pets is good, it is advisable to observe high levels of hygiene and ensure that the pets are regularly vaccinated against common diseases and infections.
