University life is very interesting. With all the new-found freedom, many University students find it hard to avoid certain temptations. But it is not always roses. It reaches a time a student has to get serious with academic work. He or she will be forced to forego many things and get down to serious reading. In short, life in campus is a like an undulating terrain. Sometimes you are up and sometimes you are low. But here are a few moments campus students cherish most.

That moment HELB money is deposited into the account.

One of the greatest and most cherished moment by a campus student is that day loan money is deposited into the account by Higher Education Loans Board (HELB).The student has probably spent most of his holiday time running to the bank to check whether the money is there. Once it is confirmed that the money has “entered”, calls will be made to other comrades to check their accounts. Then they will assemble in a local pub to “bless” the money.

That moment exam is postponed

There is no other moment that campus students cherish most compared to that time a lecturer comes to the lecture hall and announces that the exam he or she was to give that day has been postponed until further notice. This has always come as the best news to students who never prepared adequately for that exam. Instead, they have been spending most of their time watching movies or playing pool at the campus pub.

That moment she comes to your room

So the girl you have been trying to lay has finally agreed to come to your room. Which other moment can be compared to that? You will do what is commonly known as general cleaning. You will even use all your HELB money to make sure she gets the best treat ever. You will buy that take-away nyama choma to be accompanied by that rice you cooked. Then you top up with that brandy or whisky. You will “exile” your room mates and try your luck.

That moment you graduate

After all is said and done, you will have to sit for all your exams, pass and graduate. Graduation usually marks the end of that easy “campus life.” It ushers you to the brutality of the outside world. The world where you have to fend for yourself. The world where you have to pay bills and become responsible. Actually, graduation is the best moment in the life of a University student.
