Four people died on spot while several sustained serious injuries on Wednesday afternoon when a Kisii bound bus rolled severally near Keroka Town, Nyamira County.
Eye witnesses say, the Nyamira Express bus, despite moving at a slow speed, lost control and veered off the road as the driver struggled to contain it.
"He was moving at such a high speed but something might have been faulty with the vehicle. He lost control," said Jane Oenga, who was at the scene.
At least 40 survivors were rushed to Kisii Teaching and Referral Hospital for specialised treatment.
Keroka OCS Idris Mohammed confirmed the accident and urged drivers to exercise caution when driving alone the narrow road.
"It is not the first time we are experiencing such accidents along this road. It is quite narrow and it's upon drivers to exercise caution," he said.
Last week, a tanker rolled in Kisumu near Nyamasaria killing at least five people on spot even as the Transport Ministry struggles to stamp authority on roads.
