Kidneys are vital organs in the body.Every normal human being has 2 kidneys located in the upper abdominal area on both the left and right sides.Their main function is to remove excess fluids and waste products from the body.
Here are four indicators that your kidneys are affected.
Nausea and Vomiting
These are one of the signs that your kidneys might be failing. One of the functions of kidneys is to remove waste products from the blood through urine. Therefore, when one or both of the kidneys stop functioning, the waste products build up in the blood causing a condition called uremia which in turn leads to the nausea.
Changes in urination
Kidneys are responsible for the production of urine.Urine is the product expelled from the body which carries unwanted products. Therefore when the kidneys fail, you may experience low production of urine, foamy and bubbly urine or bloody urine.
At times the urine comes out darker than normal or you may have difficulties and pain while urinating.
Fatigue
The kidneys are responsible for production of erythropietin[also called EPO],a hormone that tells the body to produce red blood cells that transport oxygen. With the kidney failure, less or no EPO is produced leading to less production of red blood cells making the body muscles and brain tire faster than normal.
Swelling
Kidneys remove excessive fluids from the body and with their failure, the fluid accumulates in the body causing the swelling especially in the limbs
