A 4-year-old boy died while his sister got admitted at a hospital after they allegedly consumed wild fruits in Masinga, Machakos County on on Tuesday.
The duo reportedly gulped down wild fruits from a nearby forest in Kisaani village before they were taken ill.
The siblings are said to have developed stomach upset, they vomited.
However, the little boy died on his way to hospital.
Confirming the incident, Kaewa chief Josphat Mawia said the deceased's body had been moved to Yatta Funeral Home.
Mawia said the five year old girl is recuperating at Masinga Level Three Hospital in Machakos County.
He asked parents to be at all times wary of their children's whereabouts and what they are doing wherever they are each single day.
Mawia said rivers and wells are full of water hence children shouldn't be sent to fetch water unaccompanied by adults.
"Accidents happen and we can avoid them on how we handle our children. Schools have closed, parents should keep an eye on their children," Mawia said.
