Forty grassroots leaders from the Nandi community have joined the CORD Coalition from the ruling Jubilee fold.
The 40 met Wiper Party leader Kalonzo Musyoka in Nairobi on Friday to exclusively discuss their political existence.
They stated that they were there to seek alternative solutions to the Jubilee Coalition which they felt had let the country down as well as residents of the Rift Valley who voted for them overwhelmingly in the 2013 elections.
Led by group coordinator Silas Chegut, they stated that they would mobilise voters to join the opposition and seek to remove the current regime.They were welcomed by Kalonzo who called the move bold and necessary.
" We are here today to speak development for our country and also seek the way forward in the run-up to the 2017 elections," said Musyoka.
He called on Rift Valley residents to shift to the opposition and give it a chance to do well in the coming 2017 polls.
"The country is ripe for change and the CORD Coalition is ready to deliver it," he added.
Kalonzo is keen on the presidency come 2017 and will seek nomination via the CORD Coalition to do so.
