A 40 -year-old man accused of defiling three girls on the same day has been detained by police in Kuresoi North, Nakuru County.
On Thursday, the accused, Bernard Ndung'u was arraigned and charged in a Molo court with three counts of defilement.
According to accounts from the witnesses, he had promised the girls Sh10, sweets and food before defiling them one by one.
"The girls were playing outside on Sunday when he approached them and promised to buy the sweets if they agreed to go in his house afterwards. Since they knew him as a neighbor, they did not think he would harm them," a sister to one of the victims said as quoted by the Daily Nation.
"I heard one of their friends telling him how foolish they were for agreeing to be given Sh10 in exchange for being defiled. That is when i knew what happened," she added.
The woman said the accused told the girls not to tell anyone what had happened or else he would never give them money and beat them up.
According to residents Ndungu was known to be a drug addict and that his addiction could have caused him to perform the act.
Area OCPD Osbon Kadenge confirmed the incident and Magistrate Rita Amwai granted the 40 year old a bond of Sh500,000.
The case is set to heard on October 5.
