A 40-year-old woman was arrested on Thursday in Kimango village, Kithendu location in Yatta sub county after being accused of planting and selling bhang.
The incident happened a month after she disappeared after police launched a manhunt for her following reports that she was involved in the business.
Kithendu chief Jane Kisangani told this reporter that the woman's homestead was searched by police officers about a month ago whereby they found several bhang planted in her compound.
The officers also found a five 20-litre containers filled with dried and crushed bhang.
"This woman was on the run for about a month and today some villagers reported that she had been spotted at her home," the chief said.
The woman was locked up at Kithimani police station.
She is expected to be taken to court on Friday.
Ms Kisangani thanked the villagers for providing relevant reports which led to the arrest of the culprit.
She encouraged the people to always disclose such cases in order to assist the authorities fight drug trafficking and abuse among other crimes in the society.
