Transport Cabinet Secretary James Macharia has said that the government is planning to tarmack 4, 000 kilometers in the next four years.
Macharia who was speaking on Saturday in Kilifi County stated that the government is set to introduce another two batches of road construction that will target counties.
“The government is targeting to tarmac a total of 10,000 kilometers of roads in the country. This is going to be a huge achievement for a single regime to undertake such a massive project,” said Macharia.
The CS blamed previous regimes for not giving road construction a priority.
“After independence, all the other regimes only managed to construct 14,000 kilometers of roads. You can see how committed this government is in addressing infrastructure in the country,” said Macharia.
