A middle-aged man seeking to join the Kenya Defence Forces (KDF), on Tuesday afternoon shocked many when he decided to block President Uhuru Kenyatta's convoy.
This incident happened on State House Road in Nairobi, when Uhuru was on his way to State House from a two-day 9th African, Caribbean and Pacific (ACP) summit at the Kenyatta International Convention Centre (KICC).
The man, identified as Uvinalies Nyabuto, waited for the convoy, then crossed the road carrying a placard with his request to the president.
“Your Excellency, kindly offer [me] a chance to join the Kenya Defence Forces. [I] am sorry for disrespect[ing] your security (sic). Please, Mr President. [My name is] Nyabuto,” the contents of his placard read as quoted by K24 Digital.
The presidential escort unit arrested Nyabuto and confiscated his placard for further actions.
He was later taken to Kilimani Police Station, where he is currently being held.
Nyabuto is not the first man to boldly come out and ask for a job in the country.
Various Kenyans have taken to major roads in the country with such placards asking for jobs from the government.
