Speaking on Saturday, the politician said that this is clearly evident in the happenings that were witnessed towards the end of the BBI taskforce tenure on Tuesday.

He pointed out that despite being hailed as an important partner in the formation of the taskforce, alongside President Uhuru Kenyatta, there was no copy of the report for him.

He now says that the statehouse happening, where there was only one copy of the document, which was given to Uhuru, indicates that he has no authority on matters the BBI.

"We have to realize that this was a presidential taskforce and not a two-person initiative. That's also the reason why there were no two copies of the document at the statehouse (Tumekuja kugundua hii ilikuwa ni taskforce ya president, sio ya watu wawili na ndio maana hata pale statehouse document ilikuwa ni copy moja)," he said on Radio Jambo Mazungumzo Waziwazi.

He added that having gone through the document, he has decided to drop his initial opposition of the BBI push.

However, he hoped that some of the clauses, like the suggestion that no pair of the same gender can run for the presidency, can be rectified.

According to Mutura, this only seeks to benefit women, which he noted will make them more reluctant to fight for their own political space, instead of making the reliant on freely-given seats.

"I don't agree that the governor and deputy should come from different genders. These free things are fooling people (Sikubaliani na mambo ya gavana na naibu kutoka jinsia tofauti, hizi vitu za bure ndizo zinapumbaza watu)," he added.

On matters of the fight against corruption, the task force proposes that state officials named in graft immediately resign from their positions.

If implemented, whistleblowers will receive 5% of the money recovered from the corrupt, and at the same time, state officers will be blocked from doing business with the government.
