Kisii County Commissioner Godfrey Kigochi has reacted following the stalled Suneka Airstrip project in Bonchari Sub-County, Kisii County.
Kigochi said the contractor who was awarded the construction tender must move with speed to complete the construction of the Airstrip within three months failure to which the contract will be revoked.
"As government, we can not continue working with lazy contractors. I have visited Suneka Airstrip four times and am shocked that there is no work ongoing. Only serious contractors will be awarded government tenders for timely completion," he said.
The county security boss hinted that by the end of the month of August if the contractor will not have started work, there will be no option rather than terminating the contract. He said the government will not have mercy on lazy contractors whose work is to misuse money without doing no visible work.
"Contractors seeking government is committed to ensuring completion of projects in good time for the benefit of our people. Lazy contractors should not waste time taking up tenders which they can't manage. Suneka Airstrip project has taken too long to be completed," he added.
Bomorenda MCA John Ombati echoed Kigochi's sentiments accusing leaders for using the project as a campaign tool to power ascend to power.
