"The radio didn’t specify when the operation took place; there is no independent confirmation of the claim," tweeted VOA journalist Harun Maruf, who also authored Inside Al-Shabaab book.
On Thursday, United Nations rejected Kenya's request to have Al-Shabaab blacklisted as a terrorists group. US had opposed such a move.
Currently, Mogadishu is embroiled in a cold war with Nairobi, accusing KDF of using Al-Shabaab war to destroy genuine businesses in Somalia.
