Kirinyaga governor Anne Waiguru descended on Kibra Constituency on Sunday to drum up support for the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) candidate Imran Okoth.
Speaking at the Woodley Grounds, the county boss explained why she decided to come to Kibra on the final day of campaigning for the by-election.
She told cheering ODM supporters that she had come because of the deep respect that she has for veteran opposition and ODM leader Raila Odinga.
"I came here today because of the deep respect that I have for Raila Odinga (Mimi leo nimekuja hapa kwa heshima kuu ambayo Niko nayo kwa sababu ya, baba, the right honourable, his Excellency Raila Odinga)," she said. (0:08-0:20)
The presence of the former devolution cabinet secretary was yet another reminder that she had genuinely buried the hatchet with the former prime minister.
In the lead up to the disputed 2017 general election, Raila Odinga accused the Kirinyaga governor of engaging in corruption.
Governor Waiguru strongly rejected the allegations levelled against her by the ODM leader and even took him to court.
She later withdrew the case after the two leaders agreed to a ceasefire.
Her endorsement for the ODM candidate is a shot in the arm to the Imran Okoth campaign which is facing stiff competition from the governing Jubilee and Amani National Congress (ANC) campaigns.
