In a video shared on Facebook, Buzeki said he has always supported Mandago's administration after he lost during the 2017 general elections.

The billionaire businessman substantiated claims of his self-support for Mandago's administration by reminding locals of how he intervened to save them where there was an imminent shortage of crop fertilizers in the country at the beginning of this year's planting season.

"I struggled until I availed fertilizers to Uasin Gishu. (Niling'ang'ana, nikaleta mbolea Uasin Gishu), Buzeki said in part of the video.

He was speaking on Sunday at a church function in Moiben constituency.

The politician further called on residents to remain united under the leadership of the incumbent governor.

He also urged the leaders to stop early campaigns and showcase their ability to serve and pointed out that that would form the basis in which the electorate would judge and elect them in future.

"Now it is time to work. (Saa hizi ni wakati wa kazi), noted Buzeki who unsuccessfully vied for the Uasin Gishu gubernatorial seat as an independent candidate in 2017 polls after missing out on the Jubilee ticket.

He has since defected from Jubilee to Chama Cha Mashinani (CCM) where he will be seeking to succeed Mandago in 2022.
