The Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) has given a green light for 10 landowners in Nkoroi whose properties were demolished to be compensated by the National Land Commission.
Payments to the landowners had been frozen over certain issues to do with the authenticity of claims and the amounts involved which have now been resolved.
The anti-graft body had called for a thorough probe to be undertaken before the payments could be done.
This was confirmed by the land commission's acting CEO Kabale Tache on Friday.
"We have done our best. You remember there were issues to do with delayed payment and that is basically we wanted to do our part by carrying out due diligence which we have done, " Kabale Tache, the acting chief executive officer of the National Land Commission said.
However, over 1 billion shillings has been set aside for the compensation of a further 330 landowners whose identities the NLC is yet to unravel.
The 330 landowners who are said to have listed their properties for compensation have not yet presented themselves to claim compensation.
Ms Kalache said that the commission would conduct due diligence to make sure that the claims are legitimate and the alleged ownership is beyond doubt.
She said that the fact that the claimants had not shown up raised questions given the huge sums of money involved.
