President Uhuru Kenyatta on Wednesday held bilateral talks with David Malpass, the President of the World Bank.

The two met at the sidelines of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in New York. 

Malpass explained to Uhuru the different measures the World Bank has put in place to ensure there is sustainable development across the entire world.  

He informed him that the measures are more responsive compared to the previous ones. Uhuru also thanked the World Bank President for the support it has accorded the country.

"President Kenyatta held bilateral talks with Mr David Malpass, the President of the World Bank. Mr. Malpass briefed the President on the reforms being implemented by the institution to make it more responsive to the needs of developing countries," he said.

Uhuru also asked Kenyans and other nations to embrace both private and public sectors.

"Although Kenya’s projectile is overall positive, sustained support from the international community and the private sector is essential to Kenya’s realization of the Sustainable Development Goals,"  he said.

During the tour to the US, Uhuru met investors from different sectors of the economy. He challenged to consider investing in Kenya. He reminded them that the country is well-endowed in terms of resources.
