A candidate in Nakuru County is sitting her exams at the hospital after giving birth before the Kenya Certificate of Primary Education examination started on Tuesday.
The candidate at Emitik Primary School in Kuresoi south was taken to Olenguruone Hospital in Nakuru where she gave birth.
The candidate was among a few female candidates in the country who sat their examination papers in various hospitals after they gave birth hours before the exam was set to begin on Tuesday morning.
The class 8 candidate was forced to sit the ongoing examinations at the hospital where she had delivered a baby girl.
Nakuru Education Director Lawrence Karuntimi who confirmed the incident said the girl managed to sit her first paper adding that the rest of her papers she will sit at the hospital.
The director said the incident will not interfere with her exams since Kenya National Examination Council (KNEC) supervisors will take the papers to her at the hospital.
“Knec supervisors have been directed to supply all examination papers at the hospital,” said Karuntimi as quoted by standardmedia.co.ke.
The 2019 Standard Eight national exams began on Tuesday with candidates writing their first paper, mathematics paper, from 8.30am.
