A Jubilee politician based in Kisii County has warned youths across the county against boycotting the upcoming census exercise scheduled to start on Saturday, August 24, 2019.
Isaac Motari said youths should take part in the exercise despite being dissatisfied with the census jobs recruitment exercise.
"Many youths missed out to be recruited to conduct the census exercise. Despite the frustrations the youths have had, I urge them to ensure they take part in the census because boycotting it will not make them get the jobs," said Motari.
Speaking on Sunday at Gesero market, the Jubilee Party youth secretary-general in Kisii slammed local chiefs across the county for allegedly manipulating the census recruitment exercise, arguing that the chiefs should in future not be allowed to handle any recruitment exercise.
"The numerous complains youths have been raising is because of the rogue and greedy chiefs we have, but I want to appeal to the government not to give chiefs powers to select who should be recruited in future. Youths who missed the recruitment slot should move on and ensure they are participating fully in the upcoming crucial exercise," he stated.
Motari is eyeing the Bomariba Ward seat in 2022.
