The trip comes few days after council of elders led by James Matundura insisted that he's the de facto leader of Abagusii community ahead of 2022 polls.

"Our CS must be respected. Those insulting him should get better things to do and I am sure that they will eventually support him," he told reporters.

A couple of weeks ago, Dr Matiang'i met over 15 MPs from the two counties where he pledged to work closely with them for implementation of government projects.

Governor John Nyagarama on Saturday confirmed that several leaders will accompany Matiang'i during the tour to the two counties before endorsing him.

"We have numbers and he's a presidential material. We shall support him. At least 40 leaders have confirmed that they will be part of the trip," he said.

The CS is set to commission newly built police stations at Keroka, Matutu and Kenyenya. He will start with Matutu which is found in Borabu constituency.

Opening of Keroka Police Station was postponed in June when Matiang'i's trip coincided with that of DP William Ruto, who they seem to be at loggerheads.

His trip comes days after two legislators; Jerusha Momanyi of Nyamira and Ben Momanyi of Borabu endorsed him to top seat.
