Former Kakamega Senator Boni Khalwale had lined up a host of activities this weekend, an indication that all was well before the death of his wife, Adelaide Khalwale.
On Saturday, the former Ikolomani MP broke the news about the death of his first wife, minutes past 10 O'clock in the morning on his Facebook.
"A sad morning.Death has just robbed my first wife," he said in a small text, breaking the unexpected news.
And before the tragedy, Khalwale hinted that all was well, given that he had lined up a host of activities across Kakamega County where he's set to contest gubernatorial seat.
On Saturday, he was set for a function in Malava constituency. Also in his itinerary were fundraisers at Navakholo and Lurambi on Sunday.
"Today I will stand with the people of Malava at Shiamoni and tomorrow I will join the christians of Lutonyi in Lurambi en Bunyala West in Navakholo for empowerment programs," he wrote on Saturday morning.
Dr Khalwale is a self confessed polygamist and has often advocated for multiple relationship arguing that it's part of his Luhya culture.
The sudden death halts activities lined up for the former lawmaker who has risen to be one of fiercest defenders of Deputy President William Ruto.
He was first elected to parliament in 2002. In 2017, he lost gubernatorial seat to Governor Wycliffe Oparanya of the Orange Democratic Movement party.
Reports however indicate that she has been battling cancer. She was a staff at the Masinde Muliro University of Science and Technology.
