Five people have lost their lives after a saloon car they were travelling in lost control before veering off the road in Eldama Ravine, Baringo County.
The grisly road accident happened in the wee hours of January 1, 2020, at Kabunyony - Poror road.
Confirming the incident, Koibatek Sub-County commander Rashid Mohamed, said the driver of the ill-fated car lost control of the car before landing in a ditch.
Mohamed, who also told road users to be keen on the road during this festive season, confirmed that the five occupants of the vehicle lost their lives on the spot.
According to a resident of the area, Joseph Biwott, they heard a loud bang on the road at around 5 am and on reaching there they found the vehicle in the ditch with its five occupants already dead.
"We heard a loud bang...On rushing to the scene, we found the vehicle in the ditch and the five had already died," Biwott, who was at the scene, said.
The five were heading to Eldama Ravine town from Poror.
Many lives have been lost especially during this festive season.
About three weeks ago, two modern Coast buses collided at Kiongwani near Salama town on the Mombasa-Nairobi Highway. Seven people died on the spot and 60 others were injured.
