Kakamega Senator Cleophas Malala has said that communities that want to be part of the government in 2022 must be prepared to support the Building Bridges Initiatives (BBI).
Speaking during an interview with NTV on Tuesday, Malala said that COTU boss Francis Atwoli rightly put it in his speech at the Bukhungu Stadium in Kakamega on Saturday that BBI will determine the next government.
The lawmaker said that leaders who are also eyeing positions in the next government need to be ready to support the report to the latter if they want their dreams to come true at the end of the day.
"Atwoli saying #BBI is the only way to get to govt; that is absolutely true. From our end as people from the Western region, we have been excluded for a very long epoch," he said.
Malala also dismissed allegations that leaders allied to ODM leader Raila have decided to hijack the BBI report. He argued that there is no way the Former Prime Minister would want to play games with his own idea. He argued that Raila and President Uhuru Kenyatta mean well for this nation.
The remarks of the senator come after the leaders allied to Deputy President William Ruto changed their tune and vowed to attend all the BBI meetings starting with the one in Mombasa.
