A post-mortem is set to be carried out on the body of a woman who committed suicide in Kitale, Trans Nzoia County, on Tuesday morning.
The woman who has been identified as Phylis Moraa is said to have committed suicide in Shanty Estate, in what is said to be as a result of domestic issues.
The bizarre incident was confirmed by Trans Nzoia County Police Commander Ayub Ali Gitonga, as well as Matisi Senior Chief Janet Nafula.
The chief said that the woman is suspected to have taken her life over claims that her husband was unfaithful to her, adding that she was eight months pregnant at the time.
"Neighbours became suspicious when the woman locked out her child and declined to open when we tried to call her out. It is when they helped her husband to break the door,’’ said Nafula.
On his part, the county police commander said that the deceased, a milk hawker within the estate, opened her business as usual and left her son manning it before returning home to hang herself.
Gitonga said that the woman was later found dangling from the door frame of her rented house.
The chief said that the woman has been picking quarrels with her husband over the infidelity claims, with the man daring her to kill herself.
Her body is being preserved at the Kitale Referral Hospital Mortuary where a pathology test is set to be carried out to ascertain the cause behind her death.
