The Secretary of Innovation, Digital and Diaspora Communication in the Office of the President Dennis Itumbi has slammed renowned law scholar Prof Makau Mutua after he cautioned Deputy President William Ruto against traveling abroad.
In a tweet on Friday, Mutua said Ruto should avoid visiting foreign countries, especially Europe and North America, since secret arrest warrants could be issued against him.
"I don’t know whether I would travel abroad — especially in Europe or North America — if my name and title where Deputy President William Ruto.
"Secret arrest warrants can’t be second guessed. Travel at your peril. If I was your lawyer, I would tell you NYET!" he posted.
In a rejoinder, Itumbi, who lately has become a fierce defender of the DP, said Mutua was desperate to discredit Ruto by spreading falsehoods.
The blogger turned state official reminded the lawyer he accepted he was member of 'evil society' after he was accused of coaching witnesses for the International Criminal Court (ICC) in the trial of President Uhuru Kenyatta.
Itumbi said Mutua was 'forgiven by all' over the claims and asked him to find another way to remain relevant.
"Dear Makau Mutua, your Evil Society experiement failed! It flopped big time. Just accept. Lies, dark schemes and outright fiction, could not stand the test of Justice. We all forgave you. Try another narrative. There was a way to start stories, Hadithi...Hadithi..." he tweeted.
