Kericho Senator Aaron Cheruiyot has suggestively claimed that a number of governors are keen to walk with Raila Odinga by supporting BBI yo avoid arrests.
Governors have come out as staunch supporters of the Building Bridges Initiative report, with a number of them joining Raila at the coast. But Cheruiyot, a close ally of Deputy President William Ruto, says the county chiefs are closely supporting BBI to evade probe over corruption.
"The most succinct way to avoid EACC, DCI & DPP. Oh..and also the license to loot with wanton abandon. Cry my beloved country," he said in reference to governors presence with Raila.
Currently, Governors Mike Sonko, Ferdinand Waititu and Moses Kasaine are facing cases at the court over corruption. The court has since blocked them from accessing their offices, a move which might have scared their colleagues.
Mr Odinga has been at the front line supporting the fighting against corruption with President Uhuru Kenyatta. Mr Odinga has also raised questions about the huge amount of money being contributed by politicians to social functions.
"Not even philanthropists like Vimal Shah and Manu Chandaria can afford to donate such kinds of money to churches and sustain it," he said.
The over 15 county chiefs accompanied Mr Odinga to Mama Ngina drive for a rally in support of BBI.
