The People Daily has reported that the two former political adversaries met on Monday according to highly placed individuals privy to the details of the secretive meeting.

It is only a few people in the tightly-knit President Uhuru circle who were aware of the impending changes to the government.

The venue of the meeting between the two leaders was at Mr Odinga's Nyali residence, in the Port City of Mombasa according to the People Daily report.

Deputy President Dr William Ruto may not have been aware of the impending changes, something that his allies have downplayed.

“He can even dissolve the entire Cabinet if he so wishes. The narrative of the President heading one faction and his deputy the other is a creation of the media,” said Aden Duale.

It is not clear whether Mr Kenyatta and Mr Odinga discussed the reorganisation of the cabinet as no one was allowed into the meeting.

After which President Kenyatta announced the changes with a clear absence of his Deputy who was said to be in Sudan then.
